Overview

The trust is recruiting a Technical Architect with primary focus on end user computing (EUC). The role will assist and lead the design, implementation and management of the technology used by the trust’s end users, in line with the current and future digital strategy. Working with senior Technical Architects, this role is key in enabling end users to perform their roles efficiently in an always-on clinical and wider organisational setting and will help shape decisions on future technology used throughout the trust.

The EUC environment is evolving, and this role is crucial in creating a secure, productive and user-friendly digital workplace for the trust’s end users. The role sits in the Architecture Team within the Digital Services department; the wider Infrastructure team is responsible for the Trust’s network, server and cloud environments. The role will be based at the Seaton Delaval offices with hybrid working options.

Reporting to the Lead Technical Architect, you will be responsible for the infrastructure implementation, availability and development of servers, cloud infrastructure and end-user compute architecture. You will join a technical architecture team that supports the digital services of the trust.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and assist on designing, documenting and implementing the architecture setup for the trust’s cloud and end-user compute (EUC) infrastructure.
  • Work on digital infrastructure projects through all stages from inception to completion.
  • Monitor the performance of servers and network systems to identify issues.
  • Analyze networks, firewalls, servers, operating systems, applications and devices.
  • Collaborate with other teams across the trust to ensure project work and changes are in the interest of all parties and in accordance with IG, clinical safety and security procedures.
  • Research and plan required technical solutions in line with the trust’s digital strategy and implement to published and Trust-guided best practices.
  • Proactively research, plan and review new and current system structures used at the trust.
  • Serve as a key escalation point for complex EUC issues and drive root cause analysis.
  • Assist in preparing documentation, including SOPs and knowledge base articles for internal use.
  • Hold departmental responsibility for outage escalations across on-premises infrastructure, cloud-based infrastructure and EUC technology.
  • Ensure high availability, security and usability of the infrastructure in place that is transparent to users and that Service Level Agreements are in place.
  • Be part of the CITI 24/7/365 best endeavours callout rota for emergencies related to digital system downtime.
  • Use up-to-date EUC knowledge to identify opportunities to increase efficiency, reliability and flexibility in line with the trust’s strategies and principles.
  • Be a member of the digital services call-out rota within the skills discipline.
