Responsibilities
- Perform assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks associated with the technical design and layout of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
- Exercise engineering judgment for the development of preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives in the design of building HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Prepare engineering-related calculations, specifications, and develop drawings and visual aids.
- Prepare design drawings, plans, sections, details, and profiles/sections within Autodesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD MEP, and Revit.
- Work under the mentorship and supervision of a senior engineer.
- Willingness and ability to occasionally travel to sites throughout North America.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related field.
- Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license and, as a condition of employment, must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review. Prior related intern and/or professional experience is preferred.
- Successful passing of the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
- Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing, and standard office software.
- Basic knowledge of industry-standard computer software for the position such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and commercially available engineering analysis packages.
- Coursework in thermodynamics and hydraulics.
- Detail-oriented while still able to understand and comply with the big picture/goals of a project.
- Ability to multi-task and demonstrate strong logic and writing skills.
- Documents time and effort accurately and can work productively in a team environment.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexible—able to adapt to shifting priorities and work schedules.
- Able to work independently and be a self-learner.
- Can take directions from others and, in turn, guide others.
