Job summary

A healthcare provider in Dorset is seeking an Enhanced Clinical Practitioner to join their advanced practice nursing team. The role supports the colorectal surgical team and assists in patient management on a faster diagnosis pathway. The ideal candidate will have qualifications in Enhanced Clinical Practice, with opportunities for band level advancement and funding for further education. This position is full-time, Monday to Friday.

Enhanced Clinical Practitioner

Are you a qualified Enhanced Care Practitioner, currently undertaking your ECP course or looking for a new exciting challenge?

We are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic individuals to join the advanced practice nursing team to support the colorectal surgical team with the management of patients on a faster diagnosis pathway (FDS). The role will also include supporting The Colorectal Enhanced Recovery (ERP) Pathway.

You will need to demonstrate the necessary skills to support the management of patients on an FDS Colorectal pathway.

The service is currently Monday-Friday.

Please note the following

This post is for 1x 37.5hrs permanent position

If you are a qualified ECP, you will be offered a band 7 position

If you are currently a trainee ECP, we welcome your application. If you are successful, we will offer you a band 6 position, and on completion of the course you will be upgraded to a band 7 as hospital policy.

For applicants who want to commence their career in advanced practice this post comes with funding for the PG Cert ECP Apprenticeship course. If successful you will be offered a band 6 ECP post. On completion of the course you will be upgraded to a band 7 as hospital policy.

Main duties of the job

Supporting the ACP Team with the Colorectal Fast Track Service.

Assessing patients in a telephone clinic, requesting investigations and acting on the results.

Communicating with the ACP Team Consultant Colleagues and Primary Care Colleagues

Supporting patients with the Enhanced Recovery Programme

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • current registration with relevant professional body
  • Enhanced Clinical Practice qualification level 6 or equivalent experience
  • Current Trainee Enhanced Clinical Practitioner at level 6 or 7
Experience
  • Demonstrable experience of managing a discrete aspect of a patient's care at an enhanced level of practice with specific knowledge and skills in a field of expertise within Surgical specialities
  • Experience of managing change as part of service and practice development
  • Minimum of 3 years post registration experience
  • Experience of developing and implementing policies and protocols.
  • Attendance at QI Lite or equivalent quality improvement course
  • Demonstrable enhanced clinical skills, within colorectal surgical pathways.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret complex information from patient assessment and interventions, and freedom to act in managing patients \"care\"
  • Ability to work unsupervised and on own initiative and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Clinical Assessment Skills/HAPE/History taking and physical assessment
