Position: Engineering Lead
We are currently looking for an Engineering Lead to join our team at our Forest Works site. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Engineering Lead will provide leadership to the engineering team and support site production, OEE, and company objectives.
The responsibilities of this role include:
- Identifying and prioritising maintenance tasks daily.
- Developing and influencing team members, setting personal and team objectives, and supporting their development.
- Monitoring and managing performance.
- Communicating effectively across departments with sound engineering reasoning.
- Conducting root cause analysis and investigations to prevent reoccurrences.
- Managing the engineering budget and justifying capital investments.
- Project managing engineering activities to meet objectives.
- Ensuring safety and health standards are maintained and safety campaigns are participated in.
- Enhancing shift handover processes.
- Maintaining relevant reports and promoting SQCDP processes.
- Coordinating workload and planned maintenance activities.
- Planning for team succession and continuous improvement.
- Investigating and delivering OEE improvements and supporting CI initiatives.
- Delivering engineering briefs and maintaining QMS and EMS standards for ISO9001 and ISO14001 accreditation.
The ideal candidate will have:
- HNC qualification in Engineering.
- IOSH qualification.
- Experience as a time-served engineer in heavy manufacturing.
- Knowledge of modern engineering techniques, Lean Manufacturing, and CI.
- Experience in conflict and case management.
- Understanding of legislative engineering requirements.
- Leadership experience in manufacturing, especially heavy manufacturing, building products, or ceramics.
- Experience with Maintenance Management Systems (preferably Agility).
- Exposure to SQCPD or similar communication models.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships at all levels.
- Effective planning, organization, and communication skills.
- Ability to address performance and technical issues effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexible and adaptable work ethic.
