Independent End Point Assessor - Mammography Associate

Overview: The government requires all apprenticeships to include an end-point assessment (EPA) to evaluate the knowledge, skills, and behaviors acquired during the apprenticeship. Pearson ensures assessments are consistent and rigorous across all apprenticeships, regardless of location or provider.

An independent EPA means assessors have no conflicts of interest with the apprentices or training providers. Assessments are conducted onsite, with outcomes recorded and submitted by the assessors, and are quality assured by Pearson.

Assessors will be qualified, trained, and approved to operate as IEAs, conducting assessments according to the apprenticeship plan and Pearson materials.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Participate in training and standardisation activities
  • Maintain relevant CPD evidence
  • Assess candidate performance according to standards
  • Follow Pearson protocols and quality assurance procedures
  • Respond to EPA planning and operational needs
  • Report risks, issues, and malpractice
  • Ensure high-quality assessment records
  • Support appeals and raise conflicts of interest
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and external quality assurance
Person Specification:
Occupational Profile:

Work within breast imaging, undertaking routine and symptomatic mammography, with a good understanding of breast health, radiation regulations, and equipment operation. Responsible for high-quality imaging and patient care, working under radiographer supervision.

Background and Experience (Essential):
  • Occupational competence in mammography
  • HCPC registration
  • Current NHS Breast Screening Programme employment
  • PG Cert in education or equivalent
  • Current DBS certificate
  • Experience in meetings, interviews, and quality assurance
  • Commitment to CPD
Desirable:
  • Assessors or internal quality assurance qualification
  • Society of Radiographers practice educator
  • Experience in grading judgments
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, health & safety, legal frameworks
  • Technical knowledge of industry tools and standards
  • Ability to assess impartially and report risks
  • Ability to meet deadlines
