Employment Lawyer | Associate | Birmingham | Hybrid Working | National Firm


A leading national law firm is seeking an Associate (1-4 years' PQE) to join its well-regarded Employment team in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity to advise a broad client base on a mix of contentious and non-contentious employment matters, within a supportive and collaborative environment.



Responsibilities


  • Advise employers on both contentious and advisory employment law issues

  • Represent clients in Employment Tribunals, including Directions and Preliminary Hearings

  • Act for clients across multiple sectors including health and care (private and NHS), higher education, automotive, manufacturing and retail

  • Support on complex matters such as TUPE, corporate transactions, restructures and redundancy programmes

  • Draft and review employment contracts, policies, handbooks and procedures

  • Provide day-to-day advice on disciplinary and grievance issues, family-friendly rights and flexible working requests

  • Contribute to business development initiatives, training and client seminars

  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across the national Employment, Pensions & Immigration team



Qualifications


  • Qualification as a Solicitor with 1-4 years' PQE in employment law

  • Experience across both contentious and non-contentious matters

  • Strong drafting, communication and organisational skills

  • A proactive, self-starting approach with the ability to manage competing deadlines

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build lasting client relationships

  • Commercial awareness and the ability to deliver clear, pragmatic advice

  • Previous experience advising clients in the health and care sector (desirable but not essential)
