Education, Employment and Training (EET) Adviser (SO2) – Temporary Agency Position – Virtual School and Leaving Care Service, London Borough of Islington

Responsibilities
  • The London Borough of Islington is seeking an Education, Employment and Training (EET) Adviser (SO2) to work within the Virtual School and Leaving Care Service on a temporary agency basis.
  • The role focuses on supporting care‑experienced young people aged 17‑25 to access and sustain education, employment and training opportunities.
  • The postholder will work directly with young people who are NEET or at risk of becoming NEET, supporting improved outcomes through personalised interventions, partnership working and delivery of targeted programmes, including the Care Leaver Youth Trailblazers Programme.
  • Support and safeguard the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
  • Manage and support a caseload of care‑experienced young people aged 17‑25 to engage with education, employment and training.
  • Work directly with young people who are NEET or at risk of NEET, using creative and person‑centred approaches.
  • Support the development and delivery of the Care Leaver Youth Trailblazers Programme.
  • Build effective relationships with professionals across Children’s Services, Leaving Care, education providers and partner organisations.
  • Work with employers to create work experience, work shadowing and employment opportunities.
  • Analyse EET performance data and outcomes to inform service delivery and improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records and update database systems in line with performance requirements.
  • Coordinate and deliver information sessions on careers, education and training pathways.
  • Support young people’s transition into further education, training or employment.
  • Deliver training and guidance to professionals, carers and educators on improving EET outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, GDPR, health and safety and council policies.
Qualifications
  • Experience working within education, employment, training or children’s services.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding and working with children, young people and care leavers.
  • Understanding of legislation, guidance and best practice relating to looked‑after children and care leavers.
  • Awareness of barriers to learning and employment, including trauma and attachment issues.
  • Ability to work creatively and proactively to improve outcomes for vulnerable young people.
  • Strong partnership working skills across multi‑disciplinary teams.
  • Experience managing projects or programmes to improve EET outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Confident using IT systems to record, monitor and report outcomes.
  • Requires English and Maths GCSE at grade C/4 or above.
