Job Details

Location: Belfast, BT3

Salary: £37,547.40 + Benefits

Hours per week: 39

Shift Times: Rotational basis - Week 1: 6 days; Week 2: 4 days.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure prompt rectification of reported vehicle defects.
  • Monitor and manage drivers\' performance, ensuring adherence to procedures as outlined in the drivers\' duties booklet.
  • Maintain vehicle security and enforce compliance with controls around van condition and preventative maintenance.
  • Ensure vehicle and driver presentation meets company standards to enhance our brand image.
  • Monitor drivers’ adherence to delivery sequences and record actual start and finish times for each route.
  • Report maintenance requirements to ensure roadworthiness and promote driver safety.
  • Manage the collection and return of delivery bins and customer returns per company guidelines.
  • Maintain a driver training programme to enhance skills, competencies, and route knowledge.
  • Communicate effectively regarding driver delivery failures to minimise customer service disruptions.
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns and accidents.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations and Goods Distribution Practice (GDP) procedures.
  • Lead and motivate the transport team through regular briefings and performance appraisals.
  • Collaborate with management colleagues to drive efficiencies and promote continuous improvement.
Education
  • CPC holder is desirable or willingness to pursue this accreditation.
Work Experience
  • Proven experience in leading transport operations, including drivers and administrators.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Strong leadership skills to engage drivers and enhance performance.
  • Familiarity with transport systems and processes, such as Microlise; aptitude for learning new systems.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Organised, analytical, and comfortable in communication.
  • Openness to process and change management.
  • Knowledge of the pharmaceuticals industry is desirable.
