A strong opportunity to join a well-established dispute resolution practice with a long history, high staff retention and a reputation for clear, intelligent advice. This role offers broad exposure across commercial and civil litigation, day‑to‑day collaboration with experienced partners, and the chance to build your own caseload within a genuinely supportive, growth‑minded team.

What You'll Be Doing

You’ll work closely with senior litigators while managing your own portfolio of mid‑value matters across a wide range of disputes.

  • Running your own fast‑track County Court files across breach of contract, commercial disputes, soft IP, consumer matters and debt claims
  • Supporting partners on more complex work including shareholder disputes, contentious insolvency, partnership breakdowns and contentious probate
  • Drafting high‑quality letters, pleadings, notices, draft directions, costs schedules and witness statements
  • Attending case management conferences and small claims hearings, undertaking straightforward advocacy without counsel
  • Meeting clients independently to take instructions and advise on smaller matters
  • Taking part in search orders and assisting with injunction‑related work where required
  • Working cross‑departmentally with commercial, property and private client teams when disputes intersect
  • Contributing to seminars, articles, networking and broader business development initiatives
About You

You will be a disputes specialist with sound technical grounding, strong drafting skills and the confidence to manage a varied caseload.

  • At least 2 years’ PQE (or equivalent FILEX experience) in commercial and civil litigation (experience in both is not needed but a keen willingness to take on a mixed workload is)
  • Strong written communication skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Comfortable balancing your own workload and supporting on complex partner‑led matters
  • Practical experience of County Court procedure, pleadings, disclosure and case management
  • Clear, personable approach when dealing with clients under pressure
  • Genuinely enthusiastic about contentious work and developing a broad disputes skillset
  • Interested in BD, networking and building long‑term client/referrer relationships
  • Organised, proactive and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
What's on Offer

You will join a disputes team known for its depth of expertise, breadth of work and highly collegiate culture.

  • Broad, high‑quality litigation spanning commercial, insolvency, shareholder and civil disputes
  • Close mentoring and hands‑on training from experienced partners, including solicitor‑advocates and accredited mediators
  • Stable, low‑ego environment with high retention and genuine interest in long‑term development
  • Regular advocacy opportunities and the chance to build confidence in court work
  • Clear exposure to complex, strategically interesting matters as your experience grows
  • Involvement in seminars, workshops and BD activity with support to build your profile
  • Hybrid working, with regular time in the Hertford office to remain integrated with the team
