A leading care provider in Sunderland is seeking a Deputy Manager for a new children's residential home. You will lead a team to support children with emotional and behavioral difficulties and mild learning difficulties. The role requires strong leadership, safeguarding knowledge, and a Level 3 Diploma. Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding and childcare legislation.
  • Full UK Manual Driving Licence is essential.

Location: Sunderland

Provision: Children’s Residential Home (Ages 7–17, EBD & Mild Learning Difficulties) – Brand-New Home for an Established Provider

Hours: 48 hours per week, days only, rolling rota (you’ll oversee the rota, including your own shifts) – sleeps required

Salary: £38,600 per annum

Are you a Senior Residential Support Worker looking to step up, or an experienced Deputy Manager searching for a new challenge?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a values-driven organisation that combines care, education, and therapy to support children with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and Mild Learning Difficulties (MLD).

Working alongside a highly experienced Registered Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in leading a strong, motivated team, creating a safe and nurturing environment, and ensuring the very best outcomes for young people.

What We’re Looking For
  • Level 3 Diploma in Children & Young People’s Workforce (or equivalent)
  • Experience as a Deputy, Assistant Manager, or Senior RSW in an Ofsted-regulated children’s home
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, childcare legislation, and leadership responsibilities
  • Full UK Manual Driving Licence (essential)
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and confident IT skills
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and guidance to the staff team
  • Oversee rota management, supervisions, audits, and contribute to recruitment
  • Work in partnership with education and therapeutic professionals to deliver holistic support
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with children, families, external agencies, and Ofsted
  • Embed a culture of high expectations, reflective practice, and continuous improvement
