Data Business Analyst - 3 Month Contract - Manchester (Hybrid)

VIQU have partnered with an NHS client seeking a Data Business Analyst to support the early stages of a major Data Platform Programme.

The role

The successful Data Business Analyst will work alongside the Project Manager to define the requirements, architectural considerations and high-level design for a new next-generation data platform. This role sits at the early discovery and pre-procurement phase. You will lead requirements gathering, understand the current data landscape, document data flows, identify pain points, and work with internal specialists to produce the level of design required for procurement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with clinical, research and digital stakeholders to gather and document business and technical requirements.
  • Map existing datasets, data warehouses, data flows and pain points across multiple systems.
  • Support development of the high-level solution architecture and target‑state data platform design.
  • Identify integration, storage, transformation and migration considerations.
  • Produce documentation required for procurement, including requirements packs, specifications and architectural summaries.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to define scope, deliverables and timelines.
  • Engage with technical teams, architects and external suppliers to validate requirements and solution direction.
  • Contribute to early migration planning and data consolidation approaches.
Key Skills & Experience:
  • Strong experience as a Technical BA, Data BA or similar within digital/data programmes.
  • Understanding of data architecture, multi‑dataset environments and enterprise data platforms.
  • Experience gathering requirements across complex clinical or research data landscapes.
  • Ability to translate business needs into high‑level data and technical specifications.
  • Awareness of cloud‑based platforms and modern data architecture patterns.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, able to work with technical and non‑technical users.
  • Familiarity with NHS data governance, IG requirements and migration considerations.
  • Experience supporting procurement or supplier engagement is advantageous.
