We are working closely alongside with a local authority in City of Westminster to assist with the appointment of a CSW-Children's Social Worker on a 3-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration., Westminster Council is looking for two highly skilled and motivated Social Workers to join our dynamic Assessment Team. Operating at the front door of childrens services, this role functions similarly to a Referral and Assessment (R&A) unit. You will be responsible for conducting high-quality, timely assessments to determine the needs of children and families, ensuring that safeguarding is at the heart of every decision.,

Responsibilities
  • Undertake child and family assessments (Single Assessments) in accordance with the Children Act 1989/2004 and statutory "Working Together" guidance.
  • Work closely with schools, health professionals, police, and other partners to ensure a holistic approach to safeguarding and family support.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and high-quality electronic case records, ensuring compliance with Department for Education (DfE) and local authority standards.
  • Identify risk and protective factors, initiating child protection proceedings or care proceedings where necessary to ensure the safety of young people.
Qualifications and Essentials
  • Must be a qualified Social Worker with a valid Social Work England (SWE) registration.
  • Degree in Social Work (BA, BSc, DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent).
  • Strong working knowledge of child protection legislation, the Public Law Outline, and DfE statutory guidance.
  • Substantial experience working in a front-line R & A or Assessment team is essential.
  • Proven track record of managing child protection and child-in-need cases within a local authority setting.
  • Experience in conducting Section 47 inquiries and producing high-quality reports for legal proceedings or child protection conferences.
  • Demonstrable experience in making sound professional judgments under pressure and within tight statutory timescales.
