Overview

The successful candidate will join a team of 33 Consultant Radiologists with various subspecialty interests and will support the innovative re-design of Interventional Radiology Services for the patients of Swansea Bay and wider West Wales region. The service is transforming, working closely with surgical specialties to expand the portfolio of interventions and develop an innovative training programme. Hybrid working options are available, with support for advanced clinical training and leadership development. The aim is to enable a health vision for West Wales by delivering interventional radiology services at the highest level.

Main duties of the job

The post will involve close collaboration with Vascular and Renal specialties to support regional working, as well as providing interventional radiology for a wide range of other secondary and tertiary specialties.

Job responsibilities

This is a new post joining three Vascular Interventional Radiologists and several GI/GU radiologists with an interest in non-vascular intervention. The vascular radiology service is looking to expand. Morriston Hospital has a DSA room (with a planned second room to be completed within 12 months) and a non-vascular intervention fluoroscopy room upgraded in 2021. A hybrid theatre is in advanced planning and awaiting final approvals. Presently, no on-call commitment is included as we concentrate on a full functional elective service; we hope to provide an in-house on-call service once numbers allow. The post will be based at Morriston Hospital, Swansea, which is strategically placed on the M4 corridor, has a major Accident and Emergency Department and offers a wide range of medical and surgical services to the population of Swansea.

  • Registered with the GMC
  • FRCR
  • On Specialist Register with GMC in Radiology or eligible for CCT within 6 months of interview and have passed exit exam, or a statement of eligibility for registration issued by PMETB, or a primary medical qualification and recognized specialist qualification from a European Member State allowing direct entry to the GMC Specialist Register
  • Licensed to practice

  • Teaching qualification/Higher qualification in medical education
