Job description
Job Overview

This exciting 10‑PA post has arisen due to increased financial provision into the area. The post will be shared with another full‑time consultant who will work in the central area of the city. It covers the provision of medical leadership to the outer area of the Scarborough Community Mental Health Team (SICT). The division between outer and central sections is purely for medical cover purposes and follows an equitable division of local GP surgeries. The community team continues to operate as one community team. The job is split into 3 sessions of supporting professional activities (SPA) and 7 sessions of direct clinical care (DCC) and it is hoped that the post‑holder will be encouraged to use the SPA provision to engage in research, education or service development in conjunction with local colleagues in order to ensure that this can occur in formal protected time. The post‑holder will provide consultant leadership in line with the principles of New Ways of Working to the outer section of the Community Mental Health Team in Scarborough.

Location and Team

The community team is based at The Ellis Centre. The team delivers care based on the principles of productive and purposeful care (PPC) to improve the quality and efficiency of patients' care journey.

Clinical Duties and Workload

The post‑holder’s core clinical duties will involve formulation, review and leadership meetings, MH‑Act related work, and involvement in complex care planning meetings. Based on Royal College recommendations, the outpatient work will comprise:

  • 3.5 PAs – Outpatient work
  • 1 PA – Clinical admin
  • 1 PA – MDT work
  • 1 PA – Emergencies
  • 0.5 PA – MHA work

There will be flexibility around this guide depending on team requirements and support.
