Job Title: Construction & Air Quality Monitoring Officer

Location: Local authority in Croydon

Pay rate: £22.55 hourly PAYE / £29.82 Umbrella

Contract: 6-month contract (possibility of extension)

Working pattern: Full Time, Monday - Friday, 36 hours - Hybrid working available

ASAP Start: Candidates MUST have a valid driving licence and access to their own vehicle.

Role purpose

Investigation and enforcement of legislation in relation to noise, air pollution, at construction and demolition sites. To act as team assessor, monitoring officer and enforcement of Construction Logistics Plans. To help develop, promote and disseminate the Construction Logistics Plans both internally and to external partners

Job Duties
  • To investigate service demands relating to noise, air pollution from construction and demolition sites and take appropriate action as necessary.
  • To act as the CLP's Project Assessing and Monitoring Officer.
  • To disseminate and promote the CLP project throughout the construction industry and to London Local Authorities. Scrutinising of CLP's; involves scrutinising the applications when received, visiting the premises and meeting with the applicant/manager, presenting cases to the steering group.
  • Enforcement of CLP's; involves reacting to and investigating complaints about construction and demolition sites, monitoring of sites, installation and use of equipment to monitor sites.
Person Specification
  • The ideal candidate must have: Thorough understanding on the legislation relating to pollution enforcement especially "Statutory nuisance"
  • A full understanding of the legislation and government guidelines in relation to the regulation of construction and demolition sites.
  • An expertise in the area of Construction Logistics Plans and their use and enforcement
  • Must be able to express information, thoughts and ideas fluently and concisely in both spoken and written form to a variety of audiences including children and parents and assess the needs of the situation and tailor communication accordingly.
  • Must be able to deal with both perpetrators and offenders in a firm and decisive but fair manner
