A leading healthcare provider in Cambridge is looking for a Community Sister / Charge Nurse (Band 6) to provide holistic palliative and end-of-life care. This permanent position involves mentoring staff and managing healthcare teams within a compassionate hospice environment. Candidates must be NMC Registered Nurses with relevant experience and a full UK driving license. The role will primarily focus on providing tailored care to patients in their homes, ensuring the highest standards.
The Hospice at Home service cares for patients across Cambridgeshire who choose to remain in their own home in their last weeks of life. We are holistic in our approach, and the care is tailored to each person’s specific needs. The compassionate team of Nurses and Healthcare Assistants provides practical and holistic care supporting patients and their families in their homes.

We now have an opportunity for a Community Sister / Charge Nurse (Band 6) to join us in a permanent role, at our hospice in Cambridge and covering Cambridge City, South Cambridgeshire and Ely. We have full and part‑time roles available and are happy to discuss working hours at interview. The service runs 7 days a week and colleagues will join us and work on a rota basis to support this. The role will work within the Hospice at Home team to provide expert knowledge and skills in the provision of palliative and end‑of‑life care, ensuring the highest standards of care are received by patients and their families in their own home. The role will also support by mentoring and line‑managing Band 2, 3 and 5 colleagues.
To be successful in this role, candidates must be an NMC Registered Nurse, have a relevant post‑graduate qualification (or equivalent experience) along with evidence of continued professional development. Previous experience working post‑registration as a Band 5, along with a knowledge and understanding of palliative and end‑of‑life care is also required.
Due to the nature of the role, it is a requirement to hold a UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work purposes.
This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS with Adult and Children’s Barred list check.
