Join Our Dynamic Occupational Therapy Team in South Devon! Are you a passionate and motivated Band 6 Occupational Therapist looking for a rewarding role in a supportive and forward-thinking team? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join Care Direct Plus South in Newton Abbot.

Our enthusiastic and welcoming team is dedicated to making a real difference in the lives of adults across South Devon. Covering a diverse area including vibrant towns, charming villages, and stunning rural communities youll have the chance to work in a truly unique and scenic environment. We work closely with NHS teams, social care services, district councils, housing providers, and equipment suppliers, ensuring a collaborative and holistic approach to care. Our team includes a mix of experienced Band 5 and Band 6 Occupational Therapists, as well as experienced Social Care Assessors and OT apprentices all committed to supporting one another and delivering excellent outcomes.

A friendly and experienced team offering peer support, regular supervision, and CPD opportunities. Flexible working with telephone, virtual, and in-person assessments tailored to client needs. Main duties of the job

Working as full members of the Care Direct Plus Team, Community Occupational Therapists will primarily be responsible for providing a person-centred service through specialist clinical assessment within the context of Social Care and Health policy and legislation. The post involves managing a caseload and lone working in a variety of settings. The emphasis of the work is a combination of Occupational Therapy and specialist moving and handling clinical skills/knowledge with responsibilities involving highly skilled and specialised work.

The tasks will involve (though not exclusively) the following:

  • Undertaking specialist moving and handling assessments and reviews within hospital and community settings.
  • Prescribing and implementing effective strategies to achieve person centred and cost-effective outcomes for individuals including the use of specialist equipment and care packages.
  • Managing a caseload including highly complex cases within the legal framework.
  • Acting as an autonomous practitioner evidencing high levels of problem solving, decision making and independent judgement in a variety of community settings and situations.
  • Exploring innovative ways of collaborative working between general practice, health and social care, acute and community and the private and voluntary sector.
