Job summary

A leading manufacturer in the North West is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee projects from planning to shipping. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in project and contracts management within a manufacturing engineering environment, preferably with exposure to fabrication and machining. This full-time position requires excellent communication and leadership skills, along with the ability to manage multiple departments for on-time project delivery. An immediate start is available for candidates based in the UK.

Job description

Our client, a leading manufacturer in the North West, is looking to recruit an experienced Project Manager to join the business on a permanent basis due to continued growth.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in Project Management and Contracts Management within a fast paced environment, with the ability to take a project from cradle to grave while engaging with all stakeholders. Candidates will be required to oversee all aspects of the projects from purchasing, planning, manufacturing and shipping.

Ideally candidates will have experience working within a Manufacturing Engineering/Assembly based environment. Exposure to fabrication and machining is essential. Experience within the Nuclear, Oil & Gas or Defence sectors is essential.

Hours – Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM (Flexible). The role is available for an immediate start and is based at the site in Oldham.

Responsibilities
  • Project Planning and Coordination: Develop detailed plans for each phase of the project, defining objectives, deliverables, deadlines, and required resources, and coordinating activities of different teams.
  • Resource Management: Allocate human, financial, and material resources necessary for project execution, optimizing their use and ensuring their availability throughout the project.
  • Budget and Schedule Tracking: Monitor planned expenses and schedules, identifying and resolving any variances from initial forecasts, and taking corrective actions if necessary to meet project objectives.
  • Team Coordination: Supervise and motivate project team members, guiding them in performing their tasks, resolving potential conflicts, and fostering collaboration and communication among different project stakeholders.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and manage potential risks associated with nuclear projects, implementing appropriate mitigation measures to minimize their impact on safety, security, and project success.
  • Ensure that nuclear projects are delivered in accordance with industry expectations and requirements, with plans and controls adhered to, progress tracked, milestones achieved, and project issues and risks managed with minimal impact on project plans.

  • Demonstrable experience in project management and streamlining projects already in process.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing engineering environment.
  • Exposure to fabrication or machining.
  • Ability to bring multiple departments together to ensure on‑time delivery of projects.
