Overview

An exciting opportunity for Clinical Managers to join our CAMHS High Intensity Environment within the Children and Young People’s Inpatient Services at our purpose-built unit. We are seeking clinically skilled, enthusiastic and motivated Clinical Managers to help lead the team, with openness to applicants from all specialist backgrounds including experience in Eating Disorders.

The post holder will work within the senior management team to ensure safe, effective care and treatment, and will be supported in their development with learning opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strong clinical leadership for the CAMHS inpatient ward (8 beds, High Intensity Environment/PICU) delivering high-quality care and treatment for patients with physical, social, psychological and emotional health needs.
  • Lead and develop the multidisciplinary team, fostering a supportive, learning environment and encouraging staff to innovate and implement ideas on the ward.
  • Promote a patient-centred approach, ensuring emphasis on least restrictive practice and placing the patient at the centre of their recovery journey.
  • Influence at senior levels and apply experience in working with challenging behaviours and a wide range of mental health problems.
  • Collaborate within the trust’s values framework, role-modeling the organisation’s core values and promoting a culture of safety, compassion and excellence.
  • Work with the ward to develop clear care plans aiming for shorter hospital stays and effective transition planning for service users.

The ward will provide comprehensive assessments and treatment to enable shorter stays in hospital, with a strong sense of “team” and empowerment to be innovative. A values-based approach and a culture of learning and development are central to the role.

  • Strong clinical leadership skills with a supportive and empathetic approach to service users and carers.
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities; able to influence at senior level.
  • Hands-on experience of working with challenging behaviours and a wide range of mental health conditions in children and young people.
  • Understanding of child and adolescent mental health, leadership and management, and knowledge of complex mental health, attachment and trauma issues for children and young people.
