A local council in Scotland is seeking a Childcare Practitioner to work in a Breakfast Café, providing a safe and engaging environment for children before school. The role involves ensuring children receive a healthy breakfast and engaging with them in a fun manner. Candidates should have experience in catering, strong organisational skills, and be able to work collaboratively as part of a team. This role is essential for supporting children's well-being and learning.
Hunger and poverty are having a detrimental effect on children’s ability to concentrate and engage in their school learning. Hunger often leads to lethargy and sometimes even disruptive behaviour, which ultimately leads to children not engaging in the classroom.
A childcare practitioner working in a Breakfast Café will provide a safe, secure environment before school where all children attending are provided with a healthy breakfast (ranging from cereal, toast, fruit and yoghurts).
Breakfast Cafes are drop-in services and are not a registered childcare provision.
