Bank Staff Nurse – Oncology – Derby Hospital

Department: Nursing | Contract: Bank | Hours: Ad hoc | Salary: Up to £30.00 per hour, depending on experience

This is an opportunity to join Britain’s largest Healthcare Charity and contribute to building a healthier nation. Working flexible hours, Monday to Friday, you’ll be motivated to provide the highest standard of care.

Responsibilities
  • Be a valued addition to the team in our consultant- and nurse-led service.
  • Work with patients receiving chemotherapy or new treatments, such as immunotherapy.
  • Fully assess each patient’s needs, providing tailored treatment plans and care.
  • Administer systemic anti-cancer therapies (SACT).
  • Assist consultants during clinics.
  • Provide care for Acute Oncological emergencies.
  • Be proficient in venepuncture, cannulation, and the use of central venous access devices.
Requirements

Registered with the appropriate governing body (e.g., NMC) with post-registration experience in Oncology. A SACT qualification or progress towards one is required.

About the Role and Organisation

Working on the bank means you are not contracted to a set number of hours per week; you will work on an ad-hoc basis to suit business needs and your availability. The position is at Nuffield Health Derby Hospital, a modern, purpose-built facility with 38 en-suite beds, three operating theatres, and a broad range of outpatient services. The Radiology department covers general radiographic procedures, theatre, ultrasound, MRI and CT.

Set in pleasant grounds, we are located about 3 miles from the city centre with easy access to major roads and bus routes.
