Job description

Priory Hospital Ty Cwm Rhonddais looking to recruit a Charge Nurse to join the team, Ty Cwm Rhondda is a 20-bedded low secure mental health facility. This is a full-time role of 37.5 hours

Based in picturesque South Wales, Priory Hospital Ty Cwm Rhondda is a low secure mental health facility offering high quality assessment, treatment and rehabilitation services for males with complex mental health needs, serious mental illnesses including treatment-resistant presentations, and behaviour that may challenge.

What you'll be doing

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. As a Charge Nurse,you will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients

  • Provide specialist clinical knowledge, expertise and support to the nursing team and wider MDT.
  • Have oversight of the clinical and care needs of all service users, supporting the primary nurses in working with patients, their families, community teams and other stakeholders in meeting the individual needs of each person.
  • Ensure that proactive clinical risk assessment and management are at the centre of planning care and interventions with service users and colleagues
  • Constructively reviewing and challenging nursing practice in the service, leading by example, and providing expert knowledge to the nursing and wider MDT on a speciality or individual patient basis

What you'll bring to the role

The ideal candidate will be a Registered Nurse on the appropriate part of the NMC register, with evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the service. They will hold a specialist qualification in a clinical skill such as DBT, CBT, or Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP), and be trained as a Practice Assessor or Supervisor. A minimum of three years’ experience within a relevant clinical setting is essential.
