Job description
Chaplaincy Position – Luckley House School

Luckley is keen to appoint a strongly pastoral and Christ‑centred Chaplain to support the whole school community and lead the spiritual life of the School.

The Chaplain will be a key pastoral figure in the School in promoting Christian values and leading the spiritual development of students and staff in line with the Christian heritage and heartbeat at Luckley. The Chaplain will form part of the pastoral team and work alongside it to provide the best care possible for our young people. The Chaplain will have a role in the pastoral care of all our young people irrespective of their individual faith. It will be the Chaplain's task to bear witness to the reality of God's love not only by what is said in and outside of the Assemblies, but by the way he or she acts, in showing a profound interest and concern for the young people in our care.

At this stage the Chaplaincy post is part time, yet in the future it may be possible to extend the remit in terms of time and longevity. Non‑ordained applicants, with appropriate experience, are welcome to apply for the post.

Responsibilities
  • Provide pastoral support and spiritual care for students and staff.
  • Lead and coordinate assemblies and other spiritual activities.
  • Work collaboratively with the pastoral team to promote a caring, inclusive environment.
  • Act as a visible and approachable figure in the school community.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience in pastoral or spiritual leadership within an educational setting.
  • Strong commitment to Christian values and ability to engage with diverse faith backgrounds.
  • Non‑ordained experience acceptable; appropriate pastoral or volunteer experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and relational skills.
Hours and Working Pattern
  • 10 to 14 hours per week, worked over at least two days.
  • Flexibility around work pattern is required; a Monday commitment would be an advantage.
  • Commitment to safeguarding: applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the DBS.
  • Online searches will be carried out for all shortlisted candidates.

Luckley House School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
