This position is on site at our Cullowhee campus.

This position is for an 11-month term followed by a 31-day break with part time hours, primarily for the Fall and Spring WCU class schedule, with potential for annual reinstatement. This position does not include benefits.

This position will serve as a Driver for the Cat Tran (WCU campus shuttle) operating a vehicle to transport passengers according to established schedules and during emergency situations. The drivers complete operating reports, inspect and clean buses/shuttles.

The operation of a vehicle will be within and in close proximity of the WCU campus. There are times during the day that the campus is very busy and congested which will require the driver to focus on safety in the operation of a Cat Tran bus/shuttle.

This position will function at the Contributing Competency Level.




Knowledge of North Carolina motor vehicle laws; Knowledge of federal laws, particularly those that apply to operating a passenger carrying vehicle; Knowledge of campus geography; Skilled in operating a public transportation vehicle, heavy truck, or other heavy vehicle; Skilled in public service contact with a customer orientation; Skilled in working in a regimented work environment that requires following orders; Ability to write legibly and coherently; Ability to speak clearly and distinctly over the radio and to passengers; Ability to read and comprehend documents, policies, directives, and text-based electronic media.
