A mental health service provider is seeking a Specialist Grade Psychiatrist to join the CAMHS team in Sutton. This full-time role involves providing medical and psychological treatment within a multidisciplinary team. Ideal candidates must be registered with the GMC, hold S12 approval, and have at least 12 years of clinical experience including 6 years in Psychiatry.This post encourages career development and supports the CESR process.

Job description
Overview

A Specialist Grade Psychiatrist is sought to join the CAMHS team in Sutton within South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust. The post is full time, 10 programmed activities (10PA) substantive; part-time working can be negotiated. This is a new post due to configuration of services. The postholder will work with a senior CAMHS Consultant and other experienced Mental Health Clinicians within the Service. The post is located in a busy, mature service that provides both medical and psychological treatment for individuals and families with severe mental health needs.

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Directorate of Southwest London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust serves the boroughs of Richmond, Sutton, Kingston, Merton and Wandsworth.

Responsibilities
  • Provide medical and psychological treatment for individuals and families with severe mental health needs.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team providing a community service with close links to local authority, education and the wider borough structure.
  • Lead on service development with the CAMHS Consultant and senior leadership team.
  • Take up a special interest and/or take an active role in teaching.
Team and Environment

The Sutton CAMHS team is highly specialist, comprising family therapy, psychology, risk management nurses and a DBT specialist. The team has access to trust-wide services such as the DBT group programme, eating disorder service, emergency services across the three acute hospitals, a Learning Disability Service, the National CAMHS Deaf Service and a Neurodevelopmental Team.

The post-holder will be responsible to the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services Clinical Director of SW London St George’s Mental Health Trust.
