Job description
Overview

The Mental Health Support Team (MHST) in Cornwall is an NHS service which works within school and education settings to provide early intervention for school children who are experiencing difficulties such as low mood and anxiety. The team also supports education staff in implementing strategies across the whole school to try to ensure that children’s wellbeing is supported and promoted throughout school life. We are excited to be expanding the service according to the national program of delivery so we will begin reaching into secondary schools as well as alternative provisions reaching children and young people who are electively home educated. We are therefore looking to expand the leadership team with an additional post to work with our existing leads and managers to lead this exciting development. This post forms part of the Children’s Services Operational Management Structure within Mental Health Directorate.

Responsibilities
  • The post holder will be responsible for providing high quality operational leadership to a defined group of health services within CYP services and will work alongside the directorate’s Heads of Service, Associate Director of CYP services and the Director of Mental Health.
  • They will make strong links with the wider directorate and multi-agency provision and foster seamless care pathways to ensure an informed approach across the organisation. Linking with partner organisations across health education, VCS and local authority to ensure joined up pathways and access to early preventative mental health support for school age children will be an important part of the role.
