Job summary

A leading electronics manufacturer is seeking a skilled Cable Assembler in Fareham, UK. You'll be responsible for assembling and preparing cables to a high standard, adhering to quality and safety policies. Ideal candidates will have soldering experience and attention to detail. This contract role offers competitive pay of £12.50 – £13.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Qualifications

  • Previous cable assembly experience is desirable.
  • Ability to solder to a high standard is required for £13 per hour rate.
  • Familiarity with IPC-A-620 standards is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Cut, strip, and prepare cables according to specifications.
  • Perform crimping and tinning of wires and connectors.
  • Assemble cable looms using basic loom boards.
  • Operate cut-and-strip machines and other relevant equipment.
  • Solder cables and ensure high-quality terminations.
  • Inspect completed assemblies to ensure compliance with IPC-A-620 standards.
  • Maintain and update job history on all route cards.
  • Report issues affecting delivery schedules or product quality.
  • Comply with Health & Safety and quality policies.

Rate: £12.50 – £13.00 per hour (DOE)
Hours: Monday–Thursday: 7:30am–4:00pm Friday: 7:00am–12:00pm

About the Role of Cable Assembler

We are seeking a skilled Cable Assembler to join a fast paced production team. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling and preparing cables to a high standard using a variety of tools and equipment. Tasks will include cable cutting, stripping, crimping, looming, and soldering, following detailed work instructions and maintaining strict quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cut, strip, and prepare cables according to specifications.
  • Perform crimping and tinning of wires and connectors.
  • Assemble cable looms using basic loom boards.
  • Operate cut-and-strip machines and other relevant equipment.
  • Solder cables and ensure high-quality terminations.
  • Inspect completed assemblies to ensure compliance with IPC-A-620 standards where applicable.
  • Accurately maintain and update job history on all route cards for tasks completed.
  • Report any issues that could impact delivery schedules or product quality.
  • Comply with all Health & Safety, housekeeping, quality, and environmental policies.

Skills and Requirements

  • Previous cable assembly experience is desirable; training can be provided.
  • Ability to solder to a high standard (required for £13 per hour rate).
  • Familiarity with IPC-A-620 standards is advantageous.
