The Role

Academics, a trusted national education recruitment agency, is currently looking for a dedicated and empathetic BSL Teaching Assistant to take on a full-time role at a welcoming primary school in South Birmingham. Starting this September, you\'ll be supporting a bright, primary-aged pupil with a hearing impairment in a mainstream setting known for its inclusive ethos and strong SEN support.

If you hold a minimum of BSL Level 2 and have a genuine interest in supporting children with additional communication needs, this role offers an excellent opportunity to build your experience in a positive and supportive environment.

Responsibilities
  • 1:1 support for a pupil as a BSL Teaching Assistant
  • Full-time, long-term placement from September in Birmingham
  • Working within a caring, inclusive school environment
  • Being part of a well-established SEN team that values collaboration and care
  • Use BSL to support classroom communication and understanding
  • Assist in meeting the pupil\'s EHCP targets in coordination with the class teacher and SENCO
  • Encourage confidence, independence, and enthusiasm for learning
We\'re Looking for Someone Who
  • Holds at least a Level 2 qualification in British Sign Language (essential)
  • Has experience as a BSL Teaching Assistant working with children with hearing impairments or SEN in a school setting
  • Is available to work full-time from September in Birmingham
  • Is reliable, compassionate, and committed to helping pupils achieve their full potential
