Job Title: Bid Manager

Location: Home Based

Duration: Full Time

Hours/Days: Monday - Friday 9:00 - 5:30

Overview

Bid Managers act as Project Managers for the bid process, managing documentation, ensuring milestones are met and understanding the customer and bid context. They follow international best practices like APMP processes or Shipley methodology. Bid managers need significant experience in a similar role, ideally public sector or similar markets.

Key Performance Measures
  • Maintains a Win Rate of [XX%] across allocated deals.
  • 100% of bids aligned to Capita Group Sales Governance processes.
Key Responsibilities
  • Supports - and in some cases, leads - in the management of a multi-disciplinary team of Capita and partner stakeholders to deliver high quality bids and proposals across multiple workstreams and in line with Capita values, standards, polices and industry best practice.
  • Develops and manages an effective Bid Plan to manage the pursuit to timely submission and award and assuring the quality and consistency of all bids, driving repeatable bid activity using an effective project management approach.
  • Manages Bid Budget in line with company process and against forecast.
  • Facilitates Win Strategy workshops that define and drive a winning sales strategy, including the evaluation of competitors' strengths and weaknesses and Capita's differentiators and any potential/required partnerships or consortiums, to increase Probability of Winning ("PWIN"), converting this into actions and compelling Proposal Storyboards in conjunction with the Proposal Manager.
  • Facilitates Bid Kick Off, 'Red Team' and other proposal reviews in line with Capita Bid Management processes to ensure Capita bids are compliant and compelling.
  • Coordinates all necessary internal governance in line with due process via Deal Desk, ensuring the effective control of quality, risk and cost effectiveness of each bid.
  • Facilitates Lessons Learned processes on submitted proposals, devising action plans accordingly to reflect into future deals.
  • Maintains a good working knowledge of the company's strategy, proposition(s) and business practices to support the effective showcasing of these within client proposals.
  • Adheres to company policy in relation to Capita enterprise tools including Salesforce, SAP, Fieldglass and others to ensure accuracy of sales data and support decision making.

  • Comfortable working with autonomy in a high challenge, high complexity environment whilst also taking direction from others when supporting.
  • Good understanding of the public sector procurement environment, including a strong understanding of decision-making and contracting processes.
  • Strong Project Management skills, with the ability to work effectively across a portfolio of tasks and sub-tasks at any one time.
  • Able to build effective internal and external relationships with colleagues, suppliers and partners that enables effective collaborative working and a positive and productive working environment.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple conflicting priorities simultaneously, whilst maintaining attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 for general business use, and able to contribute to the development of associated materials and templates.
