Immediate Opportunities – Environmental Health Officer (Agency) – East Midlands

Buckingham Futureshas two agency positions available for an immediate start within the East Midlands. Our client isoffering£45/hr for 37.5 hours per week. This is a hybrid role, with one day in the office preferred and flexibility to work from home for the remainder of the week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver operational and enforcement activities in line with service plans and council outcomes.
  • Offer advice, inspect businesses, and respond to service requests from the public, businesses, and stakeholders using relevant enforcement powers.
  • Conduct investigations, including interviews under PACE, drafting witness statements, and compiling prosecution files to court standards.
  • Respond consistently to service requests, applying legislation, protocols, and work procedures.
  • Organise and undertake inspections and enforcement operations, sometimes in partnership with other agencies, occasionally taking a lead role.
  • Enforce Food, Hygiene & Standards, Communicable Disease, Health & Safety, Public Health, and Port Health legislation.
  • Recommend and implement formal action, including prosecution, seizure and detention of goods, closure of premises, and prohibition of work activities.
  • Inspect food manufacturing, storage, distribution, retail premises, and vessels in line with statutory functions.
  • Maintain accurate records, collect evidence, prepare reports and legal notices, and undertake further legal action as necessary.
  • Investigate workplace accidents, public health incidents, and other regulatory issues.
  • Undertake investigative sampling, analyse results, and take appropriate remedial action.

Equipment & Accountability:

  • Daily responsibility for laptop, PPE (reflective jacket, safety shoes, etc.), camera, thermometer, and other equipment necessary for Food, Safety, and Port Health functions.
