Bank Wing Pharmacy Technician - HMP Norwich

As a Bank Wing Pharmacy Technician, your days will be rewarding and varied, working in a wing/ward environment where you will be responsible for the administration of medication to patients and the associated medication management activities, including audits and stock checks under the direction of the Clinical Lead and the Pharmacist Manager.

You will be expected to work autonomously within guidelines, standard operating procedures and Medicine Policy.

Main duties of the job

Within this role, you will:

  • Be responsible for the administration of medication to patients and the associated medication management activities, including audits and stock checks under the direction of the Clinical Lead and the Pharmacist Manager.
  • Work autonomously within guidelines, standard operating procedures and Medicine Policy.
  • Work as an active member of the Pharmaceutical team to assist in ensuring the delivery of a legal, safe, high quality specialist prison pharmaceutical service which reflects National and local policy and priorities, taking into account the high level of security that must be maintained at all times.
  • Undertake provision of a medicines administration service to the patients.
  • Provide, in conjunction with the appropriate Clinical practitioners, a wing technician medicine management service on allocated wings.
  • Support implementation of medicine management strategy and associated services and projects across the prison.
  • Assist in the delivery of cost‑effective prescribing, the medicines optimisation strategy and management of medication budget.
  • Promote safe pharmacy practice within the prison including providing advice and training to patients and staff.

Job responsibilities

As a Bank Wing Pharmacy Technician, you will be working as part of the HCRG Care Group Team at HMP Norwich.

Ideal Candidate

You will need to be a Pharmacy Technician who is currently registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council and has experience within a hospital, primary care or community background.

You will also need to be confident using IT systems and be able to demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages – i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel.
