Job summary

A health and social care organization is seeking a dedicated Care Support Worker to assist individuals with learning disabilities in Belfast. This role involves supporting daily living activities and facilitating engagement in various activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in care or support, alongside knowledge of the needs of these individuals. Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience in providing care or support, either professionally or personally.
  • Working knowledge of the needs of people with learning disabilities.
  • Ability to understand and respond to challenging behaviours.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with activities of daily living for service users.
  • Facilitate participation in various activities.
  • Complete and maintain safety intervention training.

Job description

The Service: The Mews is a Positive Behaviour Support Service (PBS) which consists of 12 single occupancy apartments located in West Belfast. The service provides a Person-Centred approach through supported living solutions to service users with Learning Disabilities, Autistic Spectrum Disorder and complex needs. The Service operates under the Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Framework and provides 24hr care and support.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting with activities of daily living and facilitating inclusion in a broad range of activities; following and assisting with identified personal care and support needs of service users.
  • Completing and maintaining CPI Safety Intervention training.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Demonstrable evidence of 1 year’s experience of providing care or support (paid employment or personal caring responsibilities).
  • Working knowledge of the needs of people with learning disabilities.
  • Demonstrable understanding and knowledge of behaviours that challenge.
  • Effective verbal and written communication, including numeracy skills.
