Overview

A Vacancy at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Due to the ongoing development of the nursing team within gynaecology an exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time position for an Educational Lead for Gynaecology.

This successful candidate will be responsible for the organisation and provision of gynae education to staff across Gynaecology, gynae-oncology services as well as the gynae inpatient areas where gynae patients are admitted such as Elizabeth Ward and the Emergency Department (ED).

Interviews will be held on 23 October 2025. With excellent leadership qualities and relevant experience in Women’s Health you will have responsibility for the co-ordination and management of education and training across gynaecology.

You will facilitate and support the gynaecology nursing team in ambulatory and inpatient settings to ensure the provision of research-based nursing care for benign gynaecology and gynae-oncology.

With a new hospital planned for Watford and work underway to update theatres at St Albans City Hospital, this is an exciting time to join us.

Responsibilities
  • The post holder will lead, develop and maintain all education and training for nursing staff across all Gynaecology and Gynae-oncology services.
  • Review of the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) agenda to meet staff educational needs, ensuring they have the necessary skills to accompany service development.
  • Oversee the induction of new members to ensure they are fully supported to begin their role.
  • Provide specialist nursing expertise to facilitate and support the education and training of all nursing staff across the gynaecology services (including Elizabeth Ward).
  • Through clinical supervision be a visible leader and a role model, ensuring that all staff uphold the Trust values and high standards of practice and care through education and training.
  • Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team, and liaise with external parties, to identify areas of improvement and replicate good practices.
  • Develop an ongoing program of specialist training and education for nurses across the gynaecology services (including Elizabeth Ward) and other areas that may benefit (ED and theatres).
