  • Under the direction / supervision of a Senior Project Manager (SPM) or Project Manager (PM), assists in the execution of projects and gains awareness of project management processes and practices.
  • Assists the SPM / PM in project start-up and delivery of larger projects.
  • Leads the start-up and delivery of lower-risk, lower-complexity projects under the guidance of the business stream manager.
  • Assists in project activities to meet time, cost, and quality requirements and manages risk.
  • Helps in delivering the Project Safely.

Reports to

Project Manager or Senior Project Manager

Position in the organisation

  • Reports directly to the business stream manager or a SPM/PM.
  • Has delegated responsibility for project teams, including Nuvia personnel, external contractors, and subcontractors where applicable.
  • Implement the Nuvia project delivery process as per the Head of the PMO.

Key Accountabilities

Delivery accountability

  • Take responsibility for delegated aspects of project delivery such as definition, design, procurement, manufacture, construction, and commissioning within the delegated scope.
  • Ensure successful delivery of the project scope in accordance with the Project Management Plan.
  • Manage project scope and deviations from the agreed scope.

The Assistant Project Manager will be involved in:

  • Setting up the project team, obtaining resources, and mobilising the project.
  • Preparing the Project Management Plan (especially for larger projects).
  • Developing a project delivery strategy.
  • Preparing Procurement and Safety Plans as applicable.
  • Establishing document and key deliverables schedules.
  • Determining resource requirements and liaising with the business to secure appropriate SQEP resources.

Establishes schedule, budgets, and project cost control

  • Establish baseline budget and schedule.
  • Set up work breakdown structure (WBS).
  • Set up accounting structure to match the WBS.

Procurement and Subcontract Management

  • Execute procurement exercises and review supplier selections.
  • Assess tenderer costs, performance, and award subcontracts.
  • Place purchase orders and manage subcontractors according to company procedures.

Monitor, Control, and Report on Project Costs, Resources, Schedule, and Scope

  • Maintain records of project costs and commitments, compare with plans, and take corrective actions.
  • Hold progress meetings with the customer and internal teams.
  • Track progress, resource usage, and mitigate deviations.
  • Produce progress and financial reports for internal and customer use.
  • Identify and address contract deviations.

Supervise Project Teams to ensure safety, quality, and delivery standards.

  • Supervise project teams and subcontractors, ensuring safety and quality standards are met, including training requirements.

Assess and Mitigate Project Risks

  • Identify and evaluate project risks.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.

Tendering and Proposal Development

  • Contribute input for tender responses.

Occupational Skills and Knowledge

  • Engineering or related technical/science degree or HNC/HND with some experience.

Duties and Requirements
