The Role
This role is an Assistant Manager – Pricing and Commercial Insights (PCI) based in our London office. It is a key part of advancing the continuous improvement agenda within the Commercial Finance function, strengthening collaboration with other business support teams, and supporting the firm's strategic objectives.
The Team
As part of the EMEA Group Finance, you will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer and collaborate with the Commercial Finance function, which includes Client Financial Decision Support, Finance Business Partnering and Analysis, and Finance Business Information and Reporting. The team supports NRF leadership and stakeholders by improving profitability, competitiveness, and client value through timely financial insights and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Business Development and Client Relationship Partners to provide financial leadership for key client account programmes.
- Respond to business requests for pricing guidance, model the financial impact of proposed pricing arrangements, and challenge key decision‑makers when appropriate.
- Identify opportunities for the PCI team to provide strategic pricing and commercial support to the partnership.
- Act as a trusted advisor to drive improved client and matter performance by maximizing relationship value through pricing techniques and commercial analysis.
- Build an internal network and maintain deep relationships with key partners.
- Assist Partners in developing fee budgets and monitoring performance, especially under Alternative Fee Arrangements, and advocate for effective legal project management discipline.
- Support the Management of the Profitability Support Panel (PSP) by preparing business cases, pricing proposals, and quarterly meeting materials.
- Participate in the annual review of standard rates to ensure profitability maximization while considering practice mix, market realities, compensation, and other costs.
- Support PCI team promotional efforts—including presentations to stakeholders—to increase internal adoption and market awareness.
- Provide education to stakeholders involved in pricing proposals and approvals, advancing pricing as a strategic client‑relationship tool.
- Support commercial improvement projects across EMEA, collaborating with Finance and Business Services colleagues.
- Maintain strong working relationships with support functions, especially Business Development, to promote effective pricing management for transaction bids and panel appointments.
- Help develop and maintain pricing models and tools for legal services, monitoring profitability and implementation.
Skills and Experience Required
- Educated to degree level
- Relevant pricing and commercial experience within a professional services or B2B environment.
- Finance Business Partnering experience with senior stakeholders.
- Excellent soft skills, including the ability to influence stakeholders and negotiate outcomes.
- Advanced MS Office (especially Excel) skills and experience manipulating large, complex data sets.
- Strong commercial acumen and exceptional analysis and financial modelling skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and a strong personality to clearly convey the Finance perspective.
- Excellent time‑management skills, able to handle conflicting deliverables and remain calm under pressure.
- A collaborative team player, transparent, and straightforward in approach.
- Experience working with varied cross‑functional teams to deliver business objectives.
