Overview

Assistant Chief Officer (Older People and Primary Care Services) – Permanent position with Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (GCHSCP). This is a senior leadership role reporting to the Depute Chief Officer – Operations and Governance / Chief Social Work Officer, with responsibility for the strategic and operational delivery of Older People and Primary Care services across Glasgow.

Responsibilities
  • Provide vision, leadership and operational oversight for a wide portfolio including Older People, Physical Disability, Mental Health, Occupational Therapy, District Nursing, Hospital Social Work, Community Rehabilitation, Intermediate Care, Technology Enabled Care, Complex Care, Supported Living, Primary Care (including General Medical Services), Health Improvement Services and Equalities.
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, person-centred services that meet HSCP strategic objectives and comply with national standards and statutory responsibilities.
  • Drive transformational change, develop and implement commissioning and workforce strategies, and lead service redesign and integration.
  • Represent the HSCP at local, regional and national levels; shape policy, contribute to capital planning and engage with the Scottish Government on adult services matters.
Qualifications and experience
  • Educated to Master’s level in a relevant field.
  • Extensive senior leadership experience within the NHS, local government, or a comparable public or third sector organisation.
  • Proven track record in strategic planning, service transformation, and partnership working; deep understanding of the legislative and policy context for health and social care in Scotland.
  • Strong political awareness, excellent communication and influencing skills; ability to lead in a complex, multi-professional environment.
  • Ability to work autonomously, exercise sound judgment, and contribute to the wider strategic direction of the HSCP.

This is an integrated position as part of the Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership. The successful applicant will be appointed to the post under their current employer’s terms and conditions and will work to the relevant job description attached.
