Responsibilities

  • Conduct take-offs and schedule materials from specifications.
  • Manage procurement processes including issuing enquiries and placing orders.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to achieve best value.

  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery.
  • Support budgeting and cost reporting within the team.

Residential Assistant Buyer(s) & Buyer(s) required ASAP

Position: Assistant Buyer(s) & Buyer(s)

Location: Northern Home Counties (office-based, 5 days per week)

Salary: £25,000 – £65,000 per annum (depending on experience)

These roles sit within the commercial team and involve working closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure efficient, timely, and cost-effective procurement across multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducting and assisting with take-offs and scheduling of materials and packages from drawings and specifications
  • Managing and supporting procurement processes, including issuing enquiries, tender analysis, and placing orders
  • Negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors to achieve best value
  • Liaising with design teams to manage design changes and update material schedules
  • Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships to ensure quality, reliability, and timely delivery
  • Supporting cost reporting, budgeting, and forecasting within the commercial team
  • Identifying alternative suppliers and materials to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness
Requirements
  • Experience working as an Assistant Buyer or Buyer within residential construction or housebuilding
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, material sourcing, and supply chain management
  • Good commercial awareness with strong organisational and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Previous experience with a residential developer or housebuilder is highly desirable
