Job description

Reed Engineering is delighted to collaborate with a renowned industry leader to recruit a Production Operative. This role is integral to supporting the production supervisor in all aspects of manufacturing cable assemblies. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining high standards of production efficiency, cleanliness, and safety.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Manufacture cable assemblies in accordance with the Bill of Materials.
  • Prepare and terminate cables and connectors using various methods including soldering and crimping of coaxial and multi-core cables.
  • Assist with stock takes as required.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and efficient production environment.
  • Uphold health and safety standards in the production area.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
  • Awareness of ISO 9001 standards.
  • IPC-A-620 Certificate or trained.
  • Proficient in using hand-operated cable cutting and stripping tools.
  • Experience with hand crimping connectors and using ty-raps.
  • Competence in hand cleaning and maintaining tool calibration.
  • Ability to perform continuity testing and inspect others' work.
  • Strong computer literacy and ability to use label printers.
  • Understanding of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills to converse with team members about requirements.
  • Leadership skills to supervise and lead a team effectively.

Additional28 Information:

  • Salary: Circa £28,000 - £32000 depending on experience
  • Monday to Friday, days - 37.5 hours per week
  • Onsite parking
