Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Acoustic Consultant to join our established and reputable acoustics consultancy client in Plymouth. Specialising in a wide range of acoustic services, we provide expert noise testing, noise impact assessments, and acoustic surveys for both domestic and commercial premises across the UK. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful projects in the public and private sectors, working on environmental planning, sound insulation testing, building design, and noise impact assessments.

Based in their Plymouth office, you will benefit from working closey with their Principal Acoustician on variety of project and gain valuable experience in a one to one mentoring arrangement.

Responsibilities

As an Acoustic Consultant, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting acoustic surveys and noise testing for various projects.
  • Preparing detailed acoustic and noise survey reports to meet Local Authority planning and environmental health requirements.
  • Performing noise impact assessments, including BS4142 mechanical plant noise assessments and BS8233 residential development noise reports.
  • Undertaking sound insulation testing and noise at work assessments.
  • Providing specialist acoustic advice and bespoke consultancy services tailored to client needs.
  • Collaborating with clients, stakeholders, and team members to deliver high-quality acoustic solutions.
  • Utilizing remote noise monitoring equipment and analyzing data to provide actionable insights.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • A degree in Acoustics, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in acoustic consultancy, including noise testing and impact assessments.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant standards and guidelines, such as BS4142 and BS8233.
  • Proficiency in using acoustic measurement equipment and software.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and concise reports.
  • A proactive and client-focused approach to work.
  • Membership or working towards membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., IOA) is desirable.
Day-to-Day

Your daily activities will include:

  • Conducting site visits to perform noise surveys and sound insulation testing.
  • Analyzing acoustic data and preparing technical reports.
  • Liaising with clients to understand their requirements and provide tailored solutions.
