A leading recruitment agency is currently seeking an experienced Accommodation Officer to join the Housing team in Newport. The role focuses on supporting individuals and families at risk of homelessness and managing various accommodation types. The successful candidate will work closely with private landlords and ensure households are supported to secure tenancies. Strong communication skills and experience in housing management are essential.

Qualifications

  • Deliver intensive housing management across accommodation used by the Local Authority.
  • Place households into appropriate accommodation where a statutory duty exists.
  • Monitor placements and assist residents in moving on to longer-term housing solutions.
  • Manage rent accounts, reduce arrears, and liaise with Housing Benefits and key partners.
  • Support the development and review of homelessness policies and procedures.
  • Work in partnership with support services to ensure residents receive the help they need.
  • Provide clear and accurate housing advice to individuals and families.

Sanctuary Personnel is currently recruiting for an experienced Accommodation Officer to join the Housing team at Newport City Council. This role offers the opportunity to make a genuine difference by supporting individuals and families at risk of homelessness while contributing to the wider prevention strategy across the city.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of a variety of accommodation types – including Temporary, Transitional, and Settled – ensuring households are effectively supported to secure and sustain tenancies. You will also work closely with private landlords, offering guidance and reassurance to help maintain housing solutions for vulnerable households.
