Position and Details

• Position: Academic Intervention Teaching Assistant – Full-time
• Location: Kirkby, Liverpool
• Start Date: ASAP – April 2026
• Salary: £90 – £105 per day (dependent on experience)

Aspire People are working with a warm and forward-thinking Primary School in Kirkby, Liverpool, who are seeking a dedicated Academic Intervention Teaching Assistant to support targeted small-group learning across KS1. This full-time position is to start as soon as possible and will run until July 2026.

The Role

• Planning and delivering small-group academic interventions across KS1
• Supporting pupils in developing core skills in phonics, reading, writing, and maths
• Using Read Write Inc strategies to support early reading development (training/experience desirable)
• Monitoring pupil progress and feeding back to class teachers and leaders
• Creating an engaging, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
• Encouraging confidence, independence, and a positive attitude to learning
• Working collaboratively with teaching staff and contributing to pupil progress reviews

What we're looking for

• Experience delivering interventions or supporting learning in a primary setting
• Knowledge or training in Read Write Inc (desirable)
• A proactive, patient, and nurturing approach
• Strong behaviour management and the ability to motivate young learners
• A passion for helping children make academic progress
• The ability to provide two professional references
• Have, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS check
