We are looking for a Mainframe Software Engineer for a permanent contract in Lyon (69).
What you will do
- Design, code, test, and implement high-quality mainframe software solutions, leveraging your expertise in mainframe technologies, programming languages, and systems to develop efficient and reliable applications.
- Develop mainframe applications based on business requirements and technical specifications, including coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.
- Ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and security guidelines.
- Debug, troubleshoot, and tune mainframe systems to resolve complex technical issues, demonstrating strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Stay updated with emerging mainframe technologies, tools, and trends, and recommend their integration.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for seamless integration of mainframe systems with other IT infrastructure components.
- Create and maintain technical documentation; provide training and support to colleagues on mainframe technologies, tools, and best practices.
Who are you?
- 3 to 5 years of experience in mainframe programming languages and tools (e.g., COBOL, JCL, VSAM, ISPF, SDSF, MQ, IMS DB/DC, OPCE).
- Knowledge of mainframe databases and data management systems, such as DB2, Assembler, CICS.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate effectively with business stakeholders and perform reverse engineering of legacy applications.
- Proactively upskilling and reskilling according to current and future needs.
- Professional certifications in mainframe technologies (e.g., IBM) are a plus.
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems (e.g., Git) is a plus.
- Experience in modernizing legacy mainframe environments using relevant tools and techniques.
- Fluent in English.
