Managing, configuring, and optimizing web server environments (IIS, Nginx, Apache) to ensure high availability, performance, and security

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Web Server Administrator to oversee the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of web server infrastructure supporting enterprise web applications and services. The role involves hands-on management of IIS, Nginx, and Apache servers, performance tuning, security hardening, and troubleshooting.

You will collaborate with development, DevOps, and security teams to ensure reliable and scalable web server operations.

Key Responsibilities

Web Server Management

• Install, configure, and maintain web servers including IIS, Nginx, and Apache in development, staging, and production environments
• Optimize server settings for performance, reliability, and scalability
• Manage SSL/TLS certificates, load balancing, and reverse proxy configurations

Security & Compliance

• Implement security best practices including firewall rules, access controls, and vulnerability patching
• Monitor and respond to security incidents or breaches related to web server infrastructure
• Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory security policies

Monitoring & Troubleshooting

• Set up monitoring and alerting systems for server health, performance metrics, and uptime
• Troubleshoot server issues including downtime, slow performance, and error logs analysis
• Coordinate with network and infrastructure teams for issue resolution

Automation & Documentation

• Automate routine server management tasks using scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
• Maintain thorough documentation of server configurations, procedures, and changes

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years experience managing web servers such as IIS, Nginx, and Apache
• Strong understanding of HTTP/S protocols, web server architecture, and SSL/TLS
• Experience with server hardening, security configurations, and compliance standards
• Proficiency with scripting for automation and task scheduling
• Familiarity with monitoring tools and log management systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
• Experience with cloud web server deployments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Knowledge of container orchestration and microservices related to web server environments
• Familiarity with CI/CD processes and integration of web servers into pipelines
• Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator or Linux Foundation certifications
