We’re looking for an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead multi-stakeholder energy access projects across Africa using GIS and data-driven solutions. You’ll work with governments, donors, and partners to deliver impactful, sustainable electrification and planning outcomes.
We would require you to relocate to Nairobi or Kigali for the position.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and deliver complex energy access projects on time and on budget
- Coordinate with data science and technical teams on GIS-based solutions
- Manage relationships with governments, donors, and development partners
- Facilitate workshops and trainings (primarily in French-speaking countries)
- Ensure high-quality, user-friendly project outputs and reporting
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of energy access projects where geospatial
Technical & Geospatial Oversight
- Oversee integration of GIS and data science methods into project design and execution.
- Support the collection, validation, and analysis of geospatial data.
- Collaborate with data science teams to ensure analyses inform decision-making (e.g., least-cost electrification, national electrification strategies and plans, mini-grid viability analysis, etc.)
- Ensure that the technology is used ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
What You Bring
- Fluency in French & English
- 3–5+ years in energy access projects in Africa
- Strong project management and stakeholder leadership skills
- Familiarity with energy sector planning tools (e.g., electrification models, demand forecasting)
- Familiarity with GIS tools (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS) and basic understanding of data analysis concepts, and preferably applied experience in Python and/or SQL).
- A technical degree that is in a relevant discipline: Masters Degree in Energy, Environmental Science, Engineering, Geography, Data Science, or related fields.
Bonus if you have the following
- Experience working in a start-up environment
- Python, R, SQL or Big Query experience
- Experience in or knowledge of electrification models, demand forecasting, energy planning models
