Our Paris office will host our future core R&D team for the flagship product Construct, a B2B SaaS construction management and quality control platform designed for utility-scale solar projects. Construct combines GIS, AI/ML, IoT, and mobile technologies to improve safety, quality, cost, and schedule. Construct has supported more than 16+ GW of projects with leading owners and EPCs.

The Role

Terabase’s Sr Manager, AI/ML Engineering Team is a member of the software product development team, reporting to the Head of Engineering who leads the Paris engineering team. The AI/ML Engineering team will design, build, release, and support features for the flagship SaaS product Construct.

We are looking for an experienced team leader who is also comfortable being a hands-on developer, capable of writing high-quality code, leading an engineering team, and helping shape the foundational culture of our new office in Paris. The role requires you to be a strong technologist, thoughtful leader, and culture role model.

The Senior Manager, AI/ML Team will build and lead a team to develop AI/ML-enabled features across the product ecosystem. This includes architectural design/review, leadership, and clear communication to align multiple internal and external teams. The role will collaborate with other engineering teams in the United States and with external software development partners in Belgrade, Serbia.

Responsibilities

• Lead Terabase’s Paris-based AI/ML Engineering team and build a high-performing, mission-aligned team in the new Paris office.
• Work with Sr. Director Software in Paris to plan, guide, and execute key AI/ML engineering activities.
• Collaborate with Director-level software/digital team leaders (Director Construction Technologies, Director IoT Technologies, Director Autonomy, Principal Solution Architect).
• Lead an initially small team including primarily AI/ML engineers.
• Conduct research and stay up to date with the latest advancements in machine learning and AI systems and approaches.
• Perform rigorous testing and validation of ML-based products and systems in diverse construction environments.
• Collaborate with internal and external software development teams.
• Design, train, test, and deploy models to augment existing and create new Terabase software products to digitalize the full lifecycle of solar power plants (development, design, construction, operation).
• Communicate with and support users of developed tools and products.
• Champion culture and communication by building bridges between the local team and other Terabase teams.

Minimum Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience with architecture, technologies, and approaches relevant to the AI/ML feature set in Terabase products — a SaaS web-based cloud-deployed modern software stack.
• Master’s in computer science or equivalent industry and/or academic experience/training.
• 4+ years of experience (or academic equivalent) in developing AI/machine learning models and pipelines.
• Proficiency in programming languages Python, Julia, R, or MATLAB.
• Experience in Computer Vision.
• Experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Experience with data labeling validation software frameworks.
• Experience in MLOps.
• Ability to work remotely and with distributed teams in various time zones.
• Proficient written and verbal English communication skills.
• Strong programming skills, with exposure to object-oriented and functional programming techniques.
• Solid understanding of agile workflow management and software product lifecycle.

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science or equivalent academic/industry experience/training.
• Experience with LLMs and Foundation Models.
• Experience with SPARK-based ML pipeline execution systems.
• Experience with AWS EMR or equivalent tools.
• Experience with data management and curation to maintain and improve model quality over time.
• Experience with software product design and product management.
• Experience building ETL pipelines for large and changing datasets.
• Experience integrating AI/ML into customer-facing products.
• Experience with digital twins modeling and tracking of physical assets and processes.
• Experience with GIS technologies and applications.
• Startup experience focused on building new products and entering new markets.
