Sales Manager – Advanced Packaging (Head of the Packaging Automation Business Unit)

About the Role

Our client is a leading systems integrator specializing in innovative, automated packaging and intralogistics solutions. With strong growth ambitions, they are now seeking an experienced Sales Manager to establish and grow a dedicated packaging automation business unit.

This is a strategic role focused on continuing to grow packaging automation team from the ground up and management of the network of partners across Europe. The primary focus will be to expand the company’s presence within the e-commerce (B2C) market, while also driving growth in pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and industrial sectors. Reporting directly to the Chief Sales Officer, this role combines hands-on business development with strategic leadership, as you will manage existing partners and build long-term relationships with key accounts.

This is a pivotal role for the company and necessitates a commercially driven leader to be the spearhead for sales growth, identifying new opportunities, growing key accounts and enabling partners to grow in different territories.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive business development across target markets, with a strong initial focus on e-commerce clients.
  • Build and lead a new packaging automation team.
  • Manage and grow relationships with existing regional partners and key clients.
  • Identify new sales opportunities in end-of-line and secondary packaging solutions.
  • Work closely with internal departments, including R&D, engineering, and marketing to deliver tailored solutions.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, client workshops, and industry events to enhance brand presence.
  • Develop annual sales plans, forecasts, and budgets, with accountability for revenue growth.
Requirements
  • Proven track record in packaging machinery sales, ideally within cardboard/end-of-line solutions such as secondary packaging, carton forming, or similar systems.
  • Strong knowledge of packaging machinery, processes, and materials.
  • 10+ years of experience in the end-of-line packaging machinery sales and account management.
  • Fluent in French and English; Italian is a plus.
  • Deep understanding of the French market and its dynamics.
  • Strategic mindset combined with a hands-on, entrepreneurial approach.
  • Ability to build and lead a team while driving individual business development activities.
