Main duties and responsibilities

The purpose of the Reliability Engineer's position is to lead the site's reliability process by ensuring consistent compliance with maintenance schedules and methodologies, implementing improved practices and procedures, and applying best practices to the preventive/predictive maintenance programs. The Reliability Leader is responsible for driving equipment reliability and continuous improvement through predictive maintenance strategies, data-driven decision-making and cross-functional leadership. This role ensures asset integrity and equipment uptime by proactively identifying failure risks, implementing sustainable solutions, and leading reliability-centered initiatives that improve safety, efficiency, and operational performance. The position will collaborate closely with the production and maintenance departments to resolve issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ROLE:
  • Develop and implement short and long-term continuous improvement strategies related to plant reliability.
  • Work with Reliability Technician to analyse thermal imaging, vibration analysis, lubrication analysis, and other proactive tasks to promote a predictive maintenance program.
  • Assist in developing SOPs for maintenance tasks relative to process reliability.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve predictive and preventive maintenance strategies.
  • Oversee the development of asset-specific maintenance plans and task lists.
  • Analyze equipment histories and failure trends to optimize PM intervals and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Ensure integration of predictive tools with CMMS and reliability platforms.
  • Perform downtime analysis to determine root causes of unscheduled stoppages.
  • Gather and analyze reliability data from the production floor and databases and apply statistical analysis, engineering techniques and reliability practices to interpret this data.
  • Lead efforts in predictive maintenance technologies, including: Vibration analysis, Infrared thermography, Ultrasonic testing, Oil analysis, and Motor circuit analysis.
  • Interpret condition monitoring data to detect equipment degradation or failure modes.
  • Partner with technicians and engineers to establish baseline readings and trend analysis.
  • Manage reliability software platforms and maintain accurate records of asset health indicators.
  • Perform regular equipment audits to assess reliability risks, identify chronic failures, and ensure adherence to maintenance best practices.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) investigations for equipment failures and chronic issues.
  • Recommend equipment design improvements or upgrades to enhance reliability.
  • Conduct training for maintenance personnel and operators concerning root cause failure analysis and other problem solving techniques.
  • Train operators and maintenance team on changes to operating procedures.
  • Provide training to maintenance and operations teams on condition monitoring tools and reliability principles.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3-5 years of experience in maintenance or reliability engineering in a manufacturing or industrial environment or 5-10 years' experience in a maintenance / production leadership role in a heavy manufacturing environment, preferably panel production.
  • Proven experience with predictive maintenance tools and reliability analysis methods.
  • Experience working in a CMMS environment a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Reliability, Maintenance Management, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience considered.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • The ability to perform intermediate to advanced mobile equipment mechanic work.
  • The ability to work with electric, pneumatic, or hand tools.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS: Activities and Safety Equipment
  • Required up to 1/3 of work time: Sitting, lifting, push/pulling, reaching / face shield & goggles, dust mask/respirator, hard hat and high visibility vest.
  • Required 1/3 to ½ of work time: Walking, climbing, bending, written communication.
  • Required 2/3 of work time or more: Seeing, hearing, standing, dexterity, verbal communication / ear plugs and safety glasses.
