Monitoring and Evaluation Accountability and Learning Specialist
The MEAL Specialist is responsible for coordinating all internal and external M&E activities, ensuring the project maintains its strategic objectives and that actions contribute efficiently to achieving the desired results.
The selected candidate will be based in Lichinga, Mozambique, and will report to the Project Manager at CIMMYT.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of researchers and technicians in developing the research project to ensure correct execution and timing.
- Evaluate and analyze data collected to guarantee accuracy and relevance to the project outline.
- Design and develop experiments using appropriate methods, resources, and availability to support the main research project.
- Analyze findings from experiments to contribute to research analysis and publication results.
- Manage research data from field trials, maintaining an accurate and updated database system.
- Produce regular progress reports on experiments to aid data collection.
- Interpret and prepare data for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Comply with applicable health and safety policies and procedures.
- Support the development and improvement of indicators and targets for monitoring and evaluating project performance at operational and results levels.
- Lead the development of the M&E plan and system, including processes, tools, procedures, and templates for data collection and analysis related to indicators within the Results Matrices.
- Implement tools for systematizing the monitoring process, enabling stakeholders to access historical and aggregated indicator data quickly.
- Create an institutional database of M&E and dashboards for easy monitoring of progress.
- Design a knowledge management strategy to facilitate organizational learning and improve project activities based on relevant insights.
Requirements
What are we looking for?
The ideal candidate should possess:
- A Master’s degree in Agronomy, Biology, Economics, or related fields.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office.
- Advanced knowledge of database management.
- At least 6 years of experience in a similar role.
- Advanced skills in statistical research analysis.
- Experience in producing and publishing scientific papers.
- Fluency in Portuguese (official language of the country location).
- Advanced written and oral communication skills in English.
