As Mission Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for a cutting‑edge telecommunications mission leveraging 5G Non‑Terrestrial Networks (NTN) via satellite constellation. Your key responsibilities include planning, executing, and monitoring satellite operations, deploying and operating ground infrastructure for early testing and in‑orbit demonstrations, and supporting continuous improvement of mission tools and processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mission Planning & Procedure Development – Participate in the definition and elaboration of operational procedures for all mission phases (LEOP, commissioning, nominal operations, EOL). Interface with Payload and Platform engineering teams to ensure that the satellite & payload design incorporates operability constraints and supports efficient mission operations. Contribute to deployment and configuration of mission software tools, ensuring operational readiness. Collect feedback and support continuous improvement of operational tools and processes.
  • Ground Station Deployment & Operation – Contribute to review of deployment sites. Interface with Ground Engineering teams to ensure ground equipment design meets operational requirements and is effectively operable during mission execution. Participate in the deployment of small ground stations for early payload testing and in‑orbit demonstration campaigns. Configure and commission ground equipment for user & feeder link communication with one or more satellites. Operate ground stations during test campaigns and nominal operations, ensuring proper link establishment and data flow. Provide first‑level support for ground station hardware and software during operations.
  • Real‑Time Operations – Monitor spacecraft health and performance during all mission phases. Execute telecommands and analyze telemetry to ensure compliance with mission objectives.
  • Performance Analysis & Reporting – Assess end‑to‑end link performance for 5G NTN services and optimize resource allocation. Generate operational reports and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Coordination & Communication – Interface with engineering teams (Payload, Platform, RF, 5G SW) and network operators. Support anomaly resolution and participate in mission review boards.
Profile required
  • Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
  • Experience in satellite operations, preferably in telecommunications missions.
  • Knowledge of RF systems (link budgets, modulation schemes, Ka‑band, user/feeder links).
  • Understanding of 5G NTN standards (3GPP Release 17 and beyond) and satellite communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with Mission Control Systems (MCS) and ground segment architecture.
  • Hands‑on experience with small ground station deployment and operation.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to work under pressure.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with beam management, RF testing, IP network configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of network slicing, QoS, and integration of non‑terrestrial networks.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, MATLAB) for data analysis and automation.

We still want to hear from you if you are not sure that you meet all the criteria, or if you think that you may have something different to offer.
