A leading research institution in France is seeking a research candidate to focus on nonlinear dispersive equations and their discretization. The role involves collaboration with physicists and mathematicians, and participation in seminars and conferences. Candidates should hold a PhD in applied mathematics and have a strong background in numerical analysis, as well as programming skills in Python, Matlab, or Julia. Proficiency in English at level C2 is expected.
The successful candidate will conduct research in the field of nonlinear dispersive equations and their discretization. The objective will be to establish new robust and efficient schemes for the simulation of quantum fluids dynamics, to perform their numerical analysis, and to highlight quantum turbulence behaviors. This work will be held in collaboration with physicists and mathematicians from the project.
These research, directed by Quentin Chauleur, Radu Chicireanu and Guillaume Dujardin., will be carried out within the framework of the CPER "WaveTech@HdF" project.
Key responsibilities
The successful candidate will be affiliated to the Numerical Analysis and PDEs group within the Laboratoire Paul Painlevé and the Paradyse project-team at the Centre Inria de l'Université de Lille. The position is funded by a Regional Funding within the framework of the CPER WaveTech project.
The successful candidate will hold a PhD in applied mathematics. Candidates are expected to have a strong background in at least one of the following areas: numerical analysis and/or simulation methods for PDEs (in particular finite volume or finite element methods), nonlinear dispersive PDEs, or cold quantum gases.
Practical knowledge of at least one programming language (Python, Matlab, Julia) is expected. English: level C2 is expected.
Applications must include a detailed curriculum vitae with contact information.
